After the hot rolling process, but also in many other areas of the metalworking industry, pickling baths are used to specifically remove, modify, passivate, or clean surfaces. Pickling solutions mainly composed of mineral acids, such as hydrochloric acid, are used. The concentration of these acids decreases during the pickling process, while the proportion of interfering components such as contaminants and drag-ins increases.
For the measurement of tertiary mixtures, it is possible to account for an additional measurement parameter alongside the sonic sensor. Thus, in metal pickling, the individual components such as acid and metal salts can be measured by the LiquiSonic® System determined separately.
Through the online analysis of pickling bath concentrations using LiquiSonic® measurement technology fresh acid can be dosed precisely. This continuously maintains optimal pickling bath quality. Time delays due to sampling and laboratory analyses are eliminated.
