After the hot rolling process, but also in many other areas of the metalworking industry, pickling baths are used to specifically remove, modify, passivate or clean surfaces. Pickling solutions consisting mainly of mineral acids, such as hydrochloric acid, are used. The concentration of these acids decreases during the pickling process, while the proportion of interfering components such as contamination and carryover increases.

For the measurement of tertiary mixtures, it is possible to calculate a further measured variable in addition to the sonic sensor. This allows the LiquiSonic® system to determine the individual components such as acid and metal salts separately for metal pickling.

The online analysis of the pickling bath concentrations using LiquiSonic® measuring technology allows fresh acid to be added in a targeted manner. This ensures that optimum pickling bath quality is continuously maintained. Time delays caused by sampling and laboratory analyses are eliminated.
